Quests vs Routines
Hi! I joined superbetter because I realize I like games, and I like self improvement, so I may as well turn my self improvement into a game.
I think the "game" would be better if it made room for "routines". Those real life things that you need to do, and if you don't, it can prevent you from really moving forward with your real goals.
There are two things that I have to fight constantly: procrastination, and disorganization.
The two are definitely related. If I don't do a good job of tracking what I need to do, I let stuff pile up. And if I let stuff pile up, I find that I spend more time playing catchup with urgent stuff than actually moving forward with my real goals.
Sometimes stuff piles up so badly that I don't even do the urgent stuff. It's a vicious cycle where the more I have to do, the less I want to do. The only way to break it is to stay on top of my routines.
I've tried turning these routines into recurring quests. But even this has a way of piling too many things into a single list. For someone like me, it can be overwhelming or confusing to see those daily errands piled up with other ambitious goals and projects.
Routines are the "grinding" in the RPG of life. Whacking rats with sticks isn't that fun compared to exploring a new castle, or defeating a new boss. But it's somehow still fun because you know it's part of the game. The "grind" is what earns you a few bonuses to be able to tackle the next big quest.
This is probably a slight expansion in scope for SuperBetter. But I imagine there are a TON of users who would benefit from visiting one site to make big strides, and still stay on top of the daily grind. Whether you're trying to drink 8 glasses of water per day, or write 5 pages of your novel today. (Permitting days off, of course!)
And it would be simple to add. Not that different from the other functionality, just with a different heading and focus.

Drop down button for 'view'
Personally, I don't like having to keep moving to a new page every time I click on a quest/power-up/bad guy. Could there please be a drop-down version of 'view' (maybe editable in settings) so that beating bad guys and reading the information is easier?

Colour of links based on resilience gained
So I've realised that while it would be really good to have icons based on resilience, there would be no way to really differentiate the packs at a glance. So instead, why not change the link colour to match that of the resilience gained? Or the 'View' button?

Persistent log in issues and "we are working to improve SB" error messages
Really a big deterrent if you can't log in and even if I do get through it often does the error message "we are working to make SB better"

Direct links to efficacy research for each quest?
Great website! I love it =)
I'd appreciate quick links (perhaps just a '?') to the research supporting a particular quest's efficacy, similar to how 23andme.com has links to support research for each genetic trait.
My father-in-law was turned off because he didn't know the efficacy of any particular quest. Admittedly, we're PhDs.

Medication
I would really love to have a medication-based quest -- "take your meds"; but daily, twice a day (configurable for each user). Right now all I can do is make a quest "take morning meds", "take evening meds"; I would love there to be a builtin setup for this that would dovetail more nicely with health and wellness packs.

Intro video for potential (offline) allies
I think it would be very useful to have an intro video for allies who are very interested in the success of their friend, family member or client (eg for a healthcare professional) but unlikely to become power users of the system, showing in short form how they might best support. Somewhat like the Ally Skills goals videos but aimed at someone fully outside of SuperBetter's term set.

Alain de Botton / School of Life
Hi SuperBetter community! I've been reading /Religion for Atheists/ by Alain de Botton, and found a section on annotating successes and dictating behaviors with symbolic rewards -- that is, parents tasking their children using 'star charts' -- very relevant to what SuperBetter's project is. I'll cite two sentences but you can track down the text on Amazon's search inside this book pp75-77.
"If the idea of an adult star chart seems odd but not wholly without merit, it is because we are aware, in our more mature moments, of the scale of our imperfections and the depths of our childishness. There is so much that we would like to do but never end up doing and so many ways of behaving that we subscribe to in our hearts but ignore in our day-to-day lives. However, in a world obsessed with freedom, there are few voices left that ever dare to exhort us to act well... we are holding to an unhelpfully sophisticated view of ourselves if we think that we are always above hearing well-placed, blunt and simply structured reminders about kindness."
Anyway, mostly just sharing, not a product suggestion -- though I wouldn't doubt that de Botton would delight in making a School of Life powerpack filled with interesting quests. Superbetter is fantastic, helping me and my friends both; thanks much.

Linguistic confounders
Hi folks. Great game. Thank you for your work.
There are some linguistic editing traps in your descriptors. I can show you what I mean, but is there a different place than here? Making my answer clear is hard b/c I can't switch between screens. Email would be ideal but I am not sure where to send. I'm a medical editor and would like to help. Best wishes!

physical limitations criteria needed in profile
Can we have options listed in the profile to limit the challenges to those that are within our ablilities, or else use more inclusive language that is suitable for ALL abilities. This is supposed to be a platform created by people recovering from injuries. Yes some may use if for wieghtloss, or other uses, but some may use if for very debilitating or permanent injuries, or birth circumstances, and may find things like walking up stairs, walking blocks instead of driving (when it it is a struggle to walk 5 steps), to be very discouraging. Inclusive language makes it less frustrating for those of us who cannot do something. I don't want to delete every challenge that is there, because of poor language, or feel defeted by it.

Allow direct messaging with allies through Superbetter
I posted my resquest for allies and had several people join but now I can't identify who's who and they are mostly people I don't know. I wish there was a way for me to send them a direct message through super better to contact them, get in touch and reach out.

Why $5?
When did you start charging? I tried to get the app for a patient of mine and suddenly instead of free it was 4.99! I know that's not a lot but it is for my clients, and it actually is a lot for an app. As a professional I'd be happy to donate if you can keep the app free.

Charge us money, already!
You update your company blog roughly once a month. You've had a new site design in the pipeline for almost a year. Y'all are clearly understaffed and underfunded. Jane can give talks til she's blue in the face, but the product needs some work. And it's begging for sponsored PowerPacks etc since you've got so many little features and options, and some of them are begging to go behind a pay wall for the betterment of the whole. Like I want to change "physical" strengths so they're called "willpower" strengths, and it took me less than a month of use to decide that I was willing to give you money for the privilege to do so.
Here's a great model for having a pay component: https://www.fitocracy.com/become-a-hero/

To-do list refresh bug
SB seems to be having some problem fully recognising new days in the to-do list column. While the date and the given day's quests will be properly updated, for half the day it will show me the previous day's Power-up and Bad Guy status on the Activity page...... I can't work out if this fault has been purposefully built in to encourage more activity.

Add milestones - goals to achieve before your epic win
I prefer to keep my "epic win" as a longer term goal (so I don't have to re-create quests, power-ups, etc. that I customize), but to set milestones along the way... shorter goals to achieve toward the epic win. This would fall between a quest and an epic win.

I want to personalize my own reminders!
I have a ton of points and now want to reach the next level!! Can I unlock a way to personalize my daily reminders?? I want to list new accomplishments for the day, not just the stuff I've been working on not doing. Give me points for fill in the blank activities!!!

Wrong text format
When I add i.e. a bad guy, I use the intro button several times to have a cromprehensive information, lists, etc. But when it's done, that line jumps doesn't show up (they are only visible in the edit menu).
