Superhero names increase isolation
Since one of the goals is to create social connection, it's weird that the superhero masks seem to impede that. Now that my friends are using pseudonyms, I have no idea who anyone is! They might as well be computer generated now.

+1 to Kyle's comment. That would be an excellent alternative.

This is part of gaming - people have gamer tags to encourage people to share more about themselves (like their personal struggles) with their allies that they may not feel comfortable sharing with people they know in real life. Using a Superhero identity takes away the human-to-human judgement...even if it's only perceived by the superhero! People with social anxiety, security issues, or people that feel they're always being judged -- they can all be more social in games because their identity remains a mystery. Kyle's idea does seem to be a practical solution, though!

The best way I can think to fix this would be to add an option to "reveal identity" to certain people. So in general you'd go by your super name. But when you add real life friends to your allies, you can reveal you rural identity to them so that your name shows to those individuals as your real name, instead of the pseudonym. Or as an additive, so it shows both of your name, real and super.
